Microblading mistake: Woman ends up with FOUR eyebrows

Microblading can look gorgeous and feel rewarding at the same time—if you have a professional do it. If you’re not careful with where you get your eyebrows done, then you might end up with an embarrassing microblading mistake.

Jami Ledbetter had one such blunder. The 42-year-old ended up with not two, not three, but four eyebrows after a microblading session. Here’s her story.

Microblading mistake of the year

It all started with good intentions, as most microblading mistakes do. Jami’s daughters surprised their mom with a 250 Groupon voucher for a microblading session.

Jami, of Kansas City, Missouri, went ahead and got her brows microbladed in November. The woman who performed the procedure claimed to have certification in microblading.

Unfortunately, “the more, the merrier” principle doesn’t really apply to eyebrows.

“It was pretty painful,” Jami said about her microblading session. “I tried to have a good attitude, but it burned a lot, kind of felt bruised. It took everything in me to hold back tears.”

In addition to a terrible microblading experience, the end results didn’t go well for Jami, either.

“I was devastated,” she said. “I was even dating a guy, and he stopped dating me at that point.”

Jami’s confidence took a hit after the procedure, she said. She even tried to go to someone else to try and fix her brows. However, six weeks later, there were still no changes to her arch situation.
Thankfully, Jami found a solution to her eyebrows woes.

Light(en) it up!

In March, Jami sought help from Kara Gutierrez, a licensed and insured tattoo artist who also specializes in tattoo removal.

The process involves a pigment-lightening solution that gets tattooed into the existing tattoo.

“It’s very unpredictable how much you can remove,” Kara said, “but it works.”

The removal process will set Jami back by at least 1,000. It also took eight weeks to get rid of Jami’s botched eyebrows.

Microblading mistakes like this one don’t just empty wallets and waste time. They also affect victims emotionally.

“I would never wish this on my worst enemy,” Jami said of her situation. “What it’s done to my self-confidence, it’s been hard.”

Lessons learned

“If I would have known it was going to turn out like this, I probably would’ve never done it at all,” Jami said.

Most victims of microblading mistakes echo this statement. And how could they not? A bad brow job can affect your social life, your work life, and more importantly, your relationship with yourself.

When considering microblading, always pay attention to client reviews. Real reviews from real people should have more weight in your decision-making process.

While not all microblading technicians are out to get you, there’s definitely a few who just want to take your money and leave you heartbroken.

Jami also has some advice of her own:

“This is something that is permanent on your face. You have to make sure your artist knows what they’re doing,” she said.

“A certification is just a fancy piece of paper saying [someone] learned how to do this. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re an expert. Don’t just look into the person that’s doing it. Look into their instructor,” Jami added.

We agree. It’s not enough to know how to perform microblading. The artist should be good.
